Behind StoryCloud is an experienced Advisory Board and a core team of educators, learning designers, technologists and content specialists, many of whom have worked across education, policy, digital safety, research and public service. Our combined background spans teaching, curriculum design and literacy, child development, technology and digital inclusion, and systemic reform. What brings us together is a shared commitment to reducing device and education inequities across Australia by building safe, accessible and high quality learning tools for children, families and early learning centres.

Silvia Choi

Advisory Board

Silvia is an education technology & learning design specialist with more than 15 years’ experience in higher education. She works as an education designer in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney, focusing on technology-enhanced learning, blended and online curriculum design, and staff capability building. Her work spans learning management systems, large-scale digital learning environments, and strategies to improve student engagement and outcomes. Silvia brings deep expertise in learning design, educational technology, and evidence-informed teaching practice to StoryCloud’s Advisory Board.

Shaon Diwakar

Advisory Board

Shaon is a product and engineering leader with experience across major technology companies and media organisations. He has held senior engineering roles at Meta/Facebook, working on news products across Asia and contributing as an early engineer on Threads. He previously founded a VC-backed technology startup and built NewsMaven and other media products for News Corp and Fairfax (now Nine), including interactive news experiences for children. Shaon brings deep expertise in product strategy, large-scale platforms, and digital media innovation to StoryCloud’s Advisory Board.

Jesil Cajes

Advisory Board

Admitted to the NSW Supreme Court and High Court of Australia, and to the High Court of New Zealand as a barrister and solicitor, Jesil has broad experience across family and civil law. Before practising law, Jesil spent over five years as a preschool principal in New Zealand and previously worked as an early childhood and primary teacher, supported by degrees in Primary and Early Childhood Education. Jesil’s work has been recognised with honours including the Naomi Taylor Award from Community Law Centres New Zealand for pro bono family law, a Radio Personality Award from Migrant News New Zealand for the community program “Culture Connection”, and commendation medals from the Philippine Embassy in New Zealand for legal services to migrant communities. This blend of legal expertise, early childhood leadership, and community advocacy underpins Jesil’s contribution to StoryCloud’s Advisory Board.

Julie Retter

Advisory Board

Former Head English Teacher with more than 35 years’ experience in secondary education. Her career includes leading English faculties in NSW public schools, working in ESL and multicultural education, and holding senior roles in HSC English assessment as an examiner and marker. Across these roles she has focused on curriculum design, literacy development, and teacher mentoring, with a strong emphasis on practical strategies that improve outcomes in real classrooms. She brings this depth of experience to StoryCloud’s Advisory Board.

Lindsay Gray

Advisory Board

Entrepreneur and Founder of D’Vinci Group, an AI-native startup foundry (venture studio), and D’Vinci, a boutique creative agency. Through D’Vinci Group he oversees a portfolio of early-stage companies in edtech, media, and decision & media intelligence, supported by a distributed, cross-disciplinary talent network across the UK, Europe, North America, and Asia–Pacific. Across more than 15 years he has led brand, product, and go-to-market strategy for emerging ventures, with a focus on turning complex technology into clear, trusted experiences for users. Lindsay supports StoryCloud on brand positioning, commercial strategy, and the broader ecosystem it is building around early learning and digital equity.

Pete Whiting

Advisory Board

A school leader and science teacher from regional New South Wales with close to 20 years’ experience in education. He is currently Director of Teaching and Learning and Coordinator of Wellbeing at an independent K–12 International Baccalaureate school in rural NSW, and has previously held leadership roles in science, pastoral care, and innovation across both metropolitan and regional settings. Pete is known for his work with flipped classrooms, gamification, and mastery learning, and co-hosts the Teachers Talking Teaching podcast, where he shares practical insights on pedagogy and school leadership. He brings deep expertise in teaching and learning, student wellbeing, and technology-enabled practice to StoryCloud’s Advisory Board.
